The Labour Court ordered C&D Foods Ltd to pay Dainis Jirgens €5,000 after finding he was unfairly dismissed. The Court signed its decision on 28 November 2024, varying an earlier compensation award of €9,411.48; the employer had conceded the dismissal was unfair, leaving compensation as the issue on appeal.
The Court said Jirgens’s evidence about efforts to find work was vague and lacked detail, including after he obtained part-time work in October 2020. It found €5,000 was just and equitable compensation for his loss.
