Labour Court overturns €800 award to Preeti Khoosye on hotel’s appeal

The Labour Court overturned an €800 award to Preeti Khoosye after allowing an appeal by Ta Hotels Limited T/A Lynams Hotel, in a determination dated 4 December 2019. Khoosye had complained that the hotel did not give her a written statement of her employment terms. The Adjudication Officer found the complaint well founded and directed the hotel to pay €800 compensation. The Labour Court found the contract relied on to bring the claim was tainted with illegality and unenforceable, so Khoosye could not maintain the claim. It set aside the Adjudication Officer’s decision.
