The Labour Court varied an employer’s appeal and found Sueann Moore was entitled to €2,300 in statutory notice pay. Its decision was dated 7 August 2024. Ringsend Community Services Forum CLG argued Moore had ended her employment by refusing to work and had already received notice pay as a goodwill gesture. Moore said she was dismissed without notice and claimed six weeks’ pay under her contract. The Court found the final payment recorded on her payslip was for holidays, not notice. It held that her refusal to attend work before her dismissal did not remove her statutory entitlement. The law entitled her to four weeks’ notice, rather than the six weeks she claimed.
