Labour Court upholds recommendation in Garda dispute while High Court proceedings continue

The Labour Court upheld an Adjudication Officer’s recommendation in a dispute between A Member Of An Garda Siochana and The Commissioner Of An Garda Siochana. The decision was signed on 5 March 2025. The worker said the Commissioner may not have followed its procedures when handling a complaint she made against senior management. The Court was told that High Court proceedings concerning issues central to the dispute were underway. The Court said the parties could not pursue the same issues in civil court and through the voluntary industrial relations process at the same time. It upheld the recommendation that the industrial relations process was not the appropriate forum and declined to decide the dispute’s merits.
