Labour Court recommends €1,500 settlement for Thermo Fisher Scientific workers

The Labour Court recommended that three Thermo Fisher Scientific workers accept a once-off €1,500 payment offered by the company in full settlement of their dispute over annual bonuses. The recommendation was issued on 11 December 2024. The workers, represented by SIPTU, sought a 10% target bonus, saying it had been agreed for the laboratory group before the Cork plant was transferred from GSK. The company said its global policy set an 8% target for band 5 employees and that the workers joined their roles after the 2019 acquisition. The Court found the union’s claim was not well-founded and recommended acceptance of the company’s goodwill offer.
