The Labour Court recommended that Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin compensate nine clinical nurse managers for earnings lost after new rosters were introduced. The recommendation, dated 7 December 2009, set compensation at 1.5 times each manager’s annual loss.
The Irish Nurses Organisation sought compensation equal to two years’ lost earnings. The hospital cited financial difficulties and said conceding the claim could compromise frontline services. The Court noted that the hospital had made a conciliation offer equal to one year’s loss, then withdrawn it, and recommended compensation at the higher amount.
