WRC rejects race discrimination complaint over eir store phone call

The WRC rejected Deyma Ayoade’s race discrimination complaint against SR Bray Ltd, trading as Syncro Retail Crumlin, over a call to an eir store about broadband service. Ayoade said the manager ended the call and did not answer his attempts to call back; he believed he was treated differently because of his race and accent. The manager said the phone line was poor quality and she could not make out the caller. The officer found no discrimination and said the evidence supported the manager’s account. The complaint was not well founded and failed. The decision was dated 8 August 2022.
