The Labour Court found the dismissals of three Green Isle Foods Limited craftworkers unjustified and recommended that the company and the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union negotiate a compensation package. The recommendation was dated 8 December 2009. The union said the dismissals followed workers’ access to a company IT folder and separate proceedings concerning email material. Green Isle Foods Limited maintained that the workers committed serious transgressions and received investigation and appeal hearings. The Court recommended that the parties try to agree compensation over one week and refer the matter back if they could not agree. It also recommended an immediate return to work and no victimisation on either side.
