Labour Court rejects extra €18.35 daily payment claim by relief signalman

The Labour Court did not recommend concession of a relief signalman’s claim for an additional €18.35 daily payment when assigned to Clonsilla. The worker, represented by Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, was based in Maynooth and already received €18.35 a day in expenses for working away from base. The union said the additional payment applied to signalmen working in Clonsilla’s new emergency control panel, while Iarnrod Eireann argued it would duplicate payment for the same work. The recommendation was signed on 22 November 2006.
