The Labour Court recommended that Aibp and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union negotiate adjustments to the hygiene bonus at the Rathkeale plant. The recommendation was signed on 3 February 2006. The bonus was introduced in 2001 at £10.00 (€12.70) and had remained unchanged. The Court found there was no agreement or established practice for periodic adjustments, but said the bonus should be adjusted over time to retain its value. It recommended negotiations on an adjustment and future arrangements, to begin as soon as practicable after acceptance and conclude within three months.
