The Labour Court did not recommend that Kraus & Naimer Ireland Ltd appoint a worker as Shift Leader, finding no justification for creating a post where no need existed. The recommendation was dated 15 November 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the worker's service, skills and responsibilities supported an upgrade from Machine Setter Grade. The company argued that restructuring had changed the position and there was no business need for a Shift Leader post. The Court recommended local discussions without delay on agreed criteria for upgrades, regradings, promotions and grade reviews.
