The Labour Court recommended that Microtherm Limited pay each affected worker a €1,000 lump sum in two equal instalments as part of a full and final settlement of a union claim over delayed national pay agreement increases. The recommendation was dated 15 November 2005. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought retrospective payments under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness and Sustaining Progress. Microtherm Limited said severe trading conditions and financial difficulties meant it could not meet the cost of the claim. The Court recommended accepting an earlier Labour Relations Commission proposal, with the additional €1,000 per worker paid before Christmas 2005 and before the end of July 2006. It recommended that the offer settle the union's claim in full and final terms.
