The Labour Court recommended that Smyths Daleside Feeds and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union identify cost-offsetting measures that could allow a pay claim to proceed under the national agreement. The recommendation, signed on 15 November 2004, said the claim as presented was cost-increasing and could not be conceded under the agreement’s stabilising clause. The company was prepared to discuss a cost-neutral approach.
