The Labour Court recommended that Thermo King include a service-pay scheme in its agreement with Amicus. Employees would receive either service-pay vouchers or Christmas-bonus vouchers, whichever was higher for each person, but not both. The recommendation was signed on 22 July 2004. The union withdrew its claim for improved sick-pay entitlements at the hearing. The facilitator’s proposal set voucher amounts by years of service, with extra leave for employees with 15 or more years’ service.
