In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that Dawn Dairies re-offer a supervisory post to a pasteuriser who lost overtime after new machinery was installed at its Limerick plant. If he declined the post again, the Court recommended a one-off payment of £8,269.42 (€10,500). The recommendation was dated 20 November 2001. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union also sought service pay and a milk allowance for employees. The Court found the allowances had been discontinued in 1988 for staff hired later and did not recommend conceding the claim. It noted the company had extended the benefits to some staff hired between 1988 and 1991 to correct an administrative error.
