Labour Court defers Don Bosco House worker’s annual leave claim pending national review

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Labour Court ·

In 1999, the Labour Court recommended that a residential care worker’s claim for annual leave parity at Don Bosco House await the outcome of a national review of the care worker profession. The recommendation was signed on 21 October 1999. The worker said he received 21 days’ annual leave, compared with 27 days for care staff employed by the Eastern Health Board. Don Bosco House said its funding did not allow it to meet the cost. The Court said the claim should await the review; if it was not dealt with there, it could be referred back for a definitive recommendation.
