The Labour Court recommended an extra night porter at Mallow General Hospital and implementation of other terms agreed at conciliation in a dispute between the Southern Health Board and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was dated 13 March 1998. The union said the hospital’s upgrade and increased patient turnover had raised staff workloads. The Board said it had sought Department of Health funding for the additional night post and that this should continue to be pursued.
