In 1996, the Labour Court recommended that Aer Lingus accept a Delta cabin crew member as part of an 11-person Aer Lingus and one-person Delta crew complement on flight EI105/104. The dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union concerned the Delta crew member’s role, seat and duties. The Court recommended a crew seat and specified in-flight service duties for the Delta crew member. It also recommended that Aer Lingus agree not to require its crew to take on extra duties, and that the parties examine internal communications and consultation procedures. The Court made no recommendation on the union’s “away from base” allowance claim because it was not properly before it. The recommendation was signed on 18 June 1996.
