In 1996, the Labour Court found that a security officer was unfairly dismissed by Jaebrade Security Services and recommended £500 compensation. The recommendation was dated 14 June 1996. The worker had finished five consecutive nights when the company called at 4pm asking him to return at 6.30pm. He said he could arrive at 9pm because of the short notice. Management told him he was finished if he did not report at 6.30pm. The company did not attend the hearing, and the court considered only the worker’s evidence.
