Labour Court recommends union agree to postpone Swissco Limited pay claim

In 1995, the Labour Court recommended that Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree to postpone its claim for a 3% increase under Clause 3 of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress until Swissco Limited's 1994 results were available. The recommendation was signed on 9 January 1995. The union said workers had contributed through flexibility and cooperation, while Swissco cited losses, competition and cost pressures. The Court said it could not recommend conceding the claim at that time, and urged the parties to finalise the unresolved retrospective element of the programme and discuss the claim locally after the results were available.
