The Labour Court did not recommend conceding either of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claims against Youghal Carpets (Yarns) Limited. The recommendation was signed on 6 September 1994. The union sought replacement cover or compensation when six clerical workers covered colleagues absent on leave, including during two maternity-leave periods. It also sought an annual £225 bonus for clerical staff, following an earlier bonus scheme for production workers. The Court concluded that neither claim should succeed.
