Labour Court recommends shift-premium and holiday-work arrangements at Sola A.D.C. Lenses

In 1992, the Labour Court recommended arrangements on shift premia and holiday work in a dispute between Sola A.D.C. Lenses Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 30 November 1992. The Court found no grounds to concede the union's claim to increase shift premia. It said full-time employees working reduced hours in future should receive the full shift premium for their shift. For employees returning early from holidays to work, it recommended double time for hours worked plus a day's leave at the company's discretion; it found no grounds for compensation when employees simply took and returned from holidays a day early.
