The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial And Professional Technical Union’s claim for a £6,000 payment for each of 35 workers transferred with Pfizer Chemical Corporation’s citric acid business. The recommendation was signed on 12 December 1990. The business was to be sold to Archer-Daniels-Midland, with employees’ existing pay, conditions and union arrangements to be honoured. The Court found Pfizer had followed the necessary procedures for the transfer and found no merit in the union’s case.
