The Labour Court rejected a union claim for a statutory redundancy lump sum for a retired Dublin Bus driver. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the driver had expected to be made redundant when his route converted and had retired before that happened. Dublin Bus argued that he retired normally and that no redundancy situation existed at the time. The Court found no grounds to recommend conceding the union’s claim. The recommendation was signed on 11 December 1990.
