In 1990, the Labour Court recommended a further £1 a week for eight Central Bank Of Ireland currency assistants in a dispute over a Compactor allowance. The recommendation was signed on 22 June 1990. The Court said the increase, together with the terms already proposed by the Bank, should settle the claim in full. The workers operated the Compactor at the Bank’s Sandyford currency centre. The Manufacturing Science Finance union had sought a separate allowance, while the Bank argued its existing pay terms were adequate.
