In 1989, the Labour Court recommended conceding the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union’s claim that redundancy lump sums for seven Gaeltarra Knitwear Limited workers be calculated using current pay rates. The Court said the 1981 agreement’s reference to a week’s pay meant pay at current rates, not the rates in force when the agreement was made. The recommendation was signed on 9 June 1989.
