In 1989, the Labour Court upheld Bus Eireann’s appeal and set aside a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that it pay a worker £1,234, equivalent to one year’s shift allowance. The decision was signed on 9 June 1989. The National Busworkers Union said the worker lost shift pay after a revised roster replaced the rotating morning and afternoon services between Cork and Roscrea. The Court said the driver had suffered no loss from the change.
