The Labour Court recommended that Southern Health Board pay an eating-on-site allowance to Cork Building Group Of Unions claimants who received “dirty money”. It did not recommend payment to claimants at the locations listed in the board’s submission, where it found the eating facilities adequate. The recommendation was signed on 23 January 1989. The claim covered 130 craftsmen. The Court said entitlement depended on a half-hour lunch break and inadequate eating facilities, assessed by whether workers could access a hot, professionally cooked meal. It considered it unreasonable to expect workers receiving dirty money to use the canteen.
