The Labour Court recommended that Mid-Western Health Board pay £2,500 to each of two workers who lost overtime earnings after redeployment. The recommendation was signed on 17 October 1988.
The workers had been cleaners at the Board's head office. One moved to portering and the other returned to a general operative role; neither lost basic pay, but their new posts had no overtime. Their annual earnings fell by £4,666 and £4,453. Irish Transport And General Workers' Union sought compensation, while the Board cited financial constraints and said it prioritised protecting jobs and services. The Court noted the constraints but recommended £2,500 for each in full and final settlement.
