The Labour Court found that a worker at McNaughtons Twisteel was not unfairly treated under the existing disciplinary procedure. The recommendation was signed on 12 August 1988. The Marine Port And General Workers' Union had sought to rescind the worker’s disciplinary action and secure pay for his suspension. It argued that an earlier warning concerned misconduct rather than performance and should not have counted toward the suspension. McNaughtons Twisteel said it had followed the agreed procedure after repeated faulty work. The Court recommended that any changes to the disciplinary agreement be dealt with outside this dispute.
