The Labour Court recommended that University College Dublin concede a claim by the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union for overtime pay for two porters who reported early during the Easter holiday period in 1988. The recommendation was signed on 26 July 1988. The porters sought double-time for the period they attended before their scheduled 10.30am start. The College said they had not been asked to report before 10.30am and that the early attendance was neither required nor authorised. The Court found the College had changed an established overtime practice without prior agreement or consultation, and recommended concession of the claim.
