Labour Court recommends Tipperary S.R. County Council roster changes

In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that the roster changes proposed by Tipperary S.R. County Council for part-time fire brigade personnel be accepted and implemented without delay. The recommendation was signed on 29 March 1988. The dispute involved the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union and the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union. The Court considered the changes fair, reasonable and consistent with the 1973 Agreement. The unions argued the existing roster had worked successfully and the new system could leave half the crew unavailable during a call-out; the Council said the changes would help maintain an adequate fire service within its resources.
