Labour Court recommends Magcobar consider changing redundancy formula

The Labour Court found Magcobar (Ireland) Limited’s non-statutory redundancy calculations complied with the agreed formula, but recommended that it give favourable consideration to changing the agreement in line with the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union’s wishes if this would not add to the cost originally envisaged. The recommendation was signed on 21 May 1987. The union had sought recalculation of payments to eight former employees, arguing that interim redundancies produced lower payments than expected. Magcobar said it had used the agreed formula.
