Labour Court backs new nursing rosters at Royal Hospital Donnybrook

In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend that the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union and Irish Nurses Organisation's claim to restore the old nursing roster at Royal Hospital Donnybrook be conceded. The recommendation was signed on 23 February. The unions argued the new roster would worsen conditions for incoming staff. The hospital said changed patient needs required extra nursing cover from 5pm to 6pm. The Court accepted the changes were necessary to improve provision for patients.
