In a decision signed on 11 February 1987, the Labour Court, acting in binding arbitration, declined the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union's claim for an additional wage increase at Trux Transport Ltd. The parties had already agreed a 5.50% increase from 1 May 1986. The union argued a further increase was needed to match settlements and help workers meet living costs. The company said it faced severe financial difficulties and further costs could lead to the closure of its Dublin depot.
