The Labour Court upheld the dismissal of former Longford Leader employee Ms Marie Casey’s age-discrimination complaint after finding it was brought outside the statutory time limit. Its determination was dated 24 February 2022. Casey appealed the Adjudication Officer’s decision, saying she believed Iconic Newspapers Limited was her employer and that this explained the delay. Formpress Publishing Limited argued that later P60s and payslips identified it as her employer. The Court found Casey had not shown reasonable cause for the delay and that the complaint was statute-barred; the merits were not decided. It did not allow her appeal and upheld the Adjudication Officer’s decision.
