Labour Court ·

The Labour Court set aside the Rights Commissioner’s €1,500 award to Raffaele Papa after Bellchime Limited T/A Ristorante Rossini succeeded in its appeal. The determination was signed on 20 July 2016. The award concerned Sunday-work premiums and adequate breaks. A separate €500 award for failing to provide a detailed written statement of employment terms was also set aside. Papa failed to appear personally at the relisted hearing on 14 July 2016, although his solicitor attended. The Court said the employer’s case was uncontested and allowed the appeals; the merits were not decided.
