The Labour Court recommended a three-year pay agreement for Dublin Bus staff, with three phased 2.75% increases, in a recommendation signed on 19 July 2016. SIPTU, NBRU, UNITE, TSSA and TEEU sought pay rises, arguing that growing passenger numbers and fare increases had boosted company revenues. Dublin Bus said a rise was justified but should reflect its early recovery and address continuing inefficiencies. The recommended increases were dated from 1 January 2016, 1 January 2017 and 1 January 2018. The Court said they reflected workers' contribution to the company's recovery through cost-saving measures. It also recommended grade-level productivity talks and a temporary deferral of funding the increases until the end of January 2017, with a safeguard for employees retiring or dependants of employees who died during that period.
