The Workplace Relations Commission found Vasile Catalin Enea’s redundancy payment complaint against Asendia Limited T/A Cascade Group not well founded. The decision was dated 16 July 2026. Enea said his lay-off began on 19 December 2025, while the company said it began on 5 January 2026. The WRC found that the lay-off began on 5 January. When Enea gave notice of his intention to claim redundancy on 28 January, he had been laid off for just over three weeks, short of the four consecutive weeks required. The WRC also found that the company’s counter-notice and offer of work on the same terms complied with the legislation. Enea had said he would not return because he had accepted another job. The WRC did not allow his appeal against the refusal of a redundancy payment.
