A Workplace Relations Commission adjudication officer found that Hubert Morris, trading as Eureka House and Gardens, unfairly dismissed Sandra Carr by telling her by telephone that her job was redundant without consultation or a formal procedure. Carr was awarded €2,450 for unfair dismissal and €1,400 for not receiving written terms of employment. The decision was dated 19 February 2026. The officer also upheld Carr’s complaint about the missing written terms statement, while rejecting a duplicate terms complaint. Morris said financial losses required downsizing and redundancies; he accepted that no formal procedure was followed and no written terms statement was provided.
