The Workplace Relations Commission directed Gorey Automotive Solutions to pay Moeez Ahmad €5,418 in compensation after finding his unpaid-wage complaint well founded. Adjudication Officer Kara Turner dated the decision 21 July 2025. Ahmad said he worked at the garage from 30 September 2024 to 6 January 2025 without pay while seeking apprentice registration. The company accepted wages were due but argued an apprentice rate of €190 a week applied and said it intended to backpay him. The WRC found Ahmad was not registered with SOLAS, so the national minimum wage applied.
