The WRC found Catherine O’Connor’s redundancy claim against Killarney Gift Shop Ltd trading as Candle with Care was not well founded, after finding the business and the work continued. O’Connor said she understood the business was closing after she saw a notice that its website would close in December 2024. The company said it closed over Christmas each year and reopened in January 2025. Adjudication Officer Seamus Clinton dated the decision 12 February 2026. He found no redundancy situation existed under the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967.
