The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Emma McDonnell’s complaint against the Health Service Executive over deductions recovering a wage overpayment, in a decision dated 31 March 2026. McDonnell argued the repayment arrangements were unfair and disproportionate. The HSE said it was required to recover the overpayment under National Finance Regulations. The adjudicator said the Payment of Wages Act did not empower him to award compensation for allegedly unfair repayment arrangements, and made no finding on whether they were fair.
