WRC rejects former Shannondoc driver’s claim for retrospective pay

The Workplace Relations Commission found Tom McCarthy’s complaint against Shannondoc.ie not well founded in a decision dated 23 March 2026. No compensation was awarded. McCarthy argued he was entitled to pay increases that accrued during his employment, despite leaving through redundancy before restoration payments were made. Shannondoc.ie said he had been paid under his contract and was no longer employed when the payments were made. The adjudication officer found that the payments in the relevant period covered 2022 to 2024, after McCarthy’s employment ended in November 2021, and did not apply to him. The officer also found that a cited Labour Court recommendation did not establish an applicable collective agreement.
