The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Kel-Tech Engineering (Waterford) Ltd. t/a Keltech to pay Christian Paul Icaro €6,000 after finding that his dismissal and rapid repatriation treated him less favourably because of race. Adjudication officer Gaye Cunningham dated the decision 9 February 2026.

Icaro said the employer arranged his return to the Philippines after dismissing him, leaving him no chance to appeal. The company said his absences made him unsuitable for the sprayer role and that employees of other nationalities had also been dismissed for attendance problems. The adjudicator found the company had not fully applied disciplinary procedures, including fair hearing and appeal rights. His fixed-term work and unfair-dismissal complaints were not well founded.
