The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ordered Boots Retail Ireland Limited to pay Oonagh Cody €160.74 for unpaid wages and €68.64 for unpaid sick pay. Adjudication Officer Bríd Deering, in a decision dated 2 September 2025, found both were unlawful deductions.
Boots accepted that wages for 9.6 hours remained unpaid and later accepted the sick pay top-up had not been paid. Cody also claimed the sick pay scheme discriminated against her on age grounds because pension recipients could not receive illness benefit. The WRC rejected that complaint, finding the scheme applied equally regardless of age. Cody withdrew her victimisation claim.
