The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Abul Kashem Golam Shahriar’s claims of race discrimination and victimisation against Railway Refreshment Rooms Ltd over an employment reference, finding the complaints were not well-founded. The decision was dated 22 April 2025. Shahriar said the reference, provided to a third party in or around August 2024, led to a lost employment opportunity. The company denied discrimination and said it completed the reference in good faith. The adjudication officer found Shahriar was a former employee rather than a prospective employee of the company and found no evidence of a protected act to support victimisation.
