The Workplace Relations Commission has found a disability discrimination complaint by National Ambulance Service Advanced Paramedic David O'Connor not well founded. Adjudication officer Christina Ryan’s decision was dated 13 February 2026.
O'Connor said the mandatory electronic patient care report device aggravated his shoulder injury and sought alternative equipment or working arrangements. The Health Service Executive denied discrimination and said a disability during the relevant period had not been established.
The officer found no contemporaneous medical or expert evidence establishing a disability during the period considered. As O'Connor had not established that he fell within the disability ground, the complaint failed and the question of reasonable accommodation did not arise.
