WRC rejects hotel supervisor’s redundancy payment complaint

A Workplace Relations Commission adjudication officer rejected Emilia Duda’s redundancy payment complaint against Cape Wrath Hotel Ltd Citywest Hotel, finding it was not well founded in a decision dated 27 January 2025. Duda said she had been laid off and that her supervisory role had changed fundamentally. The employer said she had sought a two-day week and that supervisory work remained available. The officer found no lay-off or dismissal and accepted that the role continued with reasonable changes. No award was recorded.
