The Workplace Relations Commission has rejected Christina Boland’s equal-pay complaint against Munster Technological University (MTU), finding no discrimination on the Traveller community ground. Adjudication Officer Úna Glazier-Farmer dated the decision 12 February 2025.
Boland, a Traveller Liaison Officer, said her grade 3 pay did not reflect her responsibilities and compared it with a grade 5 role at MTU’s Cork campus. MTU argued the comparison was unsuitable and said a union-agreed job review process remained open. The adjudicator found there was no evidence about the comparator’s service, experience or duties and that Boland had not established a prima facie case of equal-pay discrimination.
